The Kilt ...of Ethereal Illumination!
The reimagined Angels’ Share® Kilt—now in robust 16oz heavyweight tartan—is a luminous and commanding garment. Crafted from our exclusive and rare Angels’ Share® Scotch Whisky Tartan, this kilt radiates distinction, character, and the ever-present glow of Scotland’s national spirit.
Tailored from Lochcarron’s renowned 16oz Strome cloth, the pleat-to-stripe construction showcases a linear, luminous alignment through the back pleats—illuminating the lighter hues of the tartan for a dramatic effect.
Designed by Steven Patrick Sim, The Tartan Artisan®, this traditional eight-yard kilt is meticulously cut to your exact measurements. Made exclusively from 100% pure new wool—from native-bred Scottish sheep to the loom—this is an authentic Scottish-made masterpiece.
Available in both pleated-to-stripe (this option) and pleated-to-sett configurations. A matching fringed fly plaid or a more embellished purled and knotted plaid can also be added. Flashes and garters come included for free with all kilt orders (worth £25.00), with optional upgrades such as an oversized cut or a discreet hidden pocket also available.

Why Pleat to Stripe?
Pleating to stripe produces a striking visual contrast in the rear pleats—emphasising the luminous tones and vertical lines of the tartan, creating a unique interplay of colour and motion.
This modern pleating style offers:
An illuminated, radiant back view
Dynamic movement and glowing symmetry
A powerful visual interpretation of the Angels’ Share® tartan
• This version is particularly well-suited to ceremonial or evening wear where the play of light across the pleats becomes part of the spectacle.

Front Apron Fringe Options
The Angels’ Share® Kilt can be finished with either a single fringe or a more detailed triple fringe on the front apron. Both options are traditional and handcrafted to complement the garment — but the triple fringe offers added texture and visual interest, and is my personal preference.
Unless you specifically request otherwise, your kilt will be made with the triple fringe as standard.
• Single Fringe – Clean, classic finish
***
***
• Triple Fringe – Extra detailing with layered depth (default option)
***
***
No extra cost – Simply note your preference when ordering. Otherwise your kilt will be tailored with the triple fringe finish.

The Story in the Weave
The Angels’ Share® Tartan, created by Steven Patrick Sim, honours the mystery and romance of whisky maturation. Inspired by the symbolic 2% of spirit lost to evaporation during aging—known as the angels’ share—this tartan celebrates Scotland’s world-famous national drink and the ethereal transformation that shapes it.
Each colour in the tartan tells a story, representing a key element of whisky creation:
-
Amber – symbolising the spirit itself (…and 40% proof)
-
Ochre – representing fermenting yeast
-
Brown – evoking the oak casks
-
Blue – for the pure Scottish water
-
Indigo – recalling the coal that fires the stills
-
Yellow – the richness of ripened barley
-
White – the angels taking their share
Together, these hues form a sacred palette of light, nature, and spirit—wrapping the wearer in the luminous geometry and tradition of the Angels’ Share® tartan.

A Toast from the Tartan Artisan:
“The Angels’ Share Kilt captures the magic of whisky—the way light, spirit, and tradition come together in cloth. Every kilt pleated to sett remembers the angels... taking their share, that mysterious part of the whisky lost to the air.
It’s a piece of Scotland’s story you can wear.”
— Steven Patrick Sim
