Star-Spangled Banner Tartan – Unframed Print – PAST Edition

Sale price£120.00

A museum-grade fine-art print honoring the Great Garrison Flag of 1814 and 250 years of American independence.

Designed in historic Arbroath, Scotland
— birthplace of the Declaration of Arbroath — and fulfilled locally in the USA (and from partner labs in the UK and EU), this unframed fine-art print reimagines the original 15-star, 15-stripe Great Garrison Flag that inspired America's national anthem.

The Tartan250 PAST Edition offers a time-softened, heritage palette that reflects courage, sacrifice, and the resilience of a young republic.

Available in two sizes:

Medium (20" × 29.8")
Large (24" × 35.8")

Each edition with its own run of 1,776 numbered prints per size, commemorating the year of American Independence.

Colors of Courage — Aged Hues from 1814

This PAST Edition is based on the officially registered "Star-Spangled Banner (Flag of 1814)" — Tartan #13214, translating the historic banner's geometry and symbolism into a woven design:

  • Broad ember-red and ivory bands, composed with a 13-thread count, pay tribute to the founding colonies.
  • 15 blue and 15 red threads represent the stars and stripes of the original Great Garrison Flag that flew over Fort McHenry.
  • Smoke-hazed white pivots in the blue-shaded canton suggest stars flickering through a smoky night sky — a nod to the rockets' red glare and bombs bursting in air.

Time-softened navy, ember reds, and muted ivory tones quietly evoke two centuries of history, honoring the anthem's origins and the enduring spirit of a nation forged through struggle.

Fine-Art Print — Museum Grade

  • Print type: Archival giclée print using pigment-based, fade-resistant inks for long-term vibrancy and stability.
  • Paper: Hahnemühle Bamboo — a warm-toned, natural-fibre paper made from 90% sustainable bamboo and 10% cotton, chosen to complement the aged palette of the PAST Edition. Its smooth, lightly textured surface delivers excellent sharpness, depth, and archival quality, while being acid- and lignin-free for museum-grade preservation.
  • Finish: Subtle matte surface that enhances the heritage tones and fine detail of the tartan sett.

Limited Edition and Certification

  • Edition size: Strictly limited to 1,776 unframed prints per size (Medium and Large), commemorating the year of American Independence.
  • Certificate of Authenticity: Each print includes a hand-signed certificate from the artist confirming edition number and authenticity.
  • Printed edition numbering: Each unframed Past Edition print shows its unique edition number on the artwork beside my signature, matched to a numbered Certificate of Authenticity, making verification straightforward once the work is mounted or framed.
  • Certificate of Tartan Registration: Every order includes a full-colour copy of the official Scottish Register of Tartans certificate, linking your artwork directly to its formal registration as Tartan #13214.
