1. Purpose of This Policy

This Shipping & Delivery Policy explains how we handle order dispatch, delivery times, shipping fees, tracking, and customs procedures for all purchases made through thetartanartisan.com, tartan.love, tartan.art, and associated project domains such as TARTAN250.

Our goal is to ensure every parcel — whether shipped from our studio or a trusted partner — reaches you safely, efficiently, and beautifully packaged.

Burnished Gold Editions: our current unframed Black Onyx, Pewter and Pearl prints are produced and packed in Arbroath. Allow 5–7 working days from deposit or full payment, subject to stock availability, plus DHL transit time. DHL delivery is quoted at checkout where available, with any applicable remote-area surcharge included. The framed-artwork arrangements below are a separate route.

Important framed-artwork checkout note: if checkout shows Customer collection from Aizle Framing, Balfron, Customer collection only from Aizle Framing, Balfron, or a similar £0.00 / “FREE” shipping line, this means customer collection by appointment only. It does not mean free delivery. Eligible local/regional postcodes may also be offered Aizle local/regional framed artwork delivery at £49. Other delivery arrangements require a custom quote before dispatch.

2. Our Fulfilment Channels

Each route follows specific procedures detailed below.

3. Specialist Framed Declaration Artworks

Framed Declaration artworks, including Declaration 3D Fine Art Facsimiles and legacy framed Declaration Gold Metallic Print Editions, require specialist handling. Depending on the product, size, destination, insurance requirements, and safe handling arrangements, checkout may offer local/regional Aizle delivery, collection from Aizle Framing by appointment, or a custom delivery quote arranged before dispatch.

• Local / regional Aizle delivery: for eligible UK postcode areas, checkout may show Aizle local/regional framed artwork delivery at £49. This option is available only where specialist delivery from Aizle Framing, Balfron is practical.
• Collection from Aizle Framing: framed Declaration artworks may be collected from Aizle Framing, Balfron, by appointment only, where this option is offered at checkout. If checkout shows this as £0.00 or “FREE”, this means there is no delivery charge because the customer is collecting the artwork; it does not mean free delivery.
• Custom delivery quotes: if the £49 Aizle delivery option does not appear for your address, please contact The Tartan Artisan® before ordering so that a custom delivery quote can be considered. Any agreed custom delivery, packing, insurance, or courier charge must be paid before dispatch or delivery.
• International enquiries: overseas shipping for framed Declaration artworks is not offered automatically at checkout. International customers should contact us before ordering so that packing risk, courier options, insurance, destination rules, and costs can be reviewed individually.

This section applies only to specialist framed Declaration artworks. It does not apply to the current unframed Burnished Gold Editions or replace the separate delivery arrangements for kilts, partner-fulfilled prints, Contrado products or smaller studio-shipped items. The earlier framed Gold Metallic C-Type publication is retained as a historical archive; it is distinct from Burnished Gold.

Where a framed Declaration artwork is reserved with a deposit or part-payment, the remaining balance and any agreed delivery charge must be paid before the item is released, collected, delivered, dispatched, or fulfilled.

4. Order Processing

• Orders placed through Shopify are acknowledged by email immediately.
• Dispatch typically occurs within 1–3 business days for stock items; custom or bespoke items vary.
• Production timelines for kilts, specialist framed Declaration artworks, and made-to-order goods are provided on each product page.
• Deposit or part-payment orders are not released for collection, delivery, dispatch, or fulfilment until the balance and any agreed delivery charge have been paid.
• Orders containing multiple fulfilment types may arrive in separate parcels.

5. Studio Fulfilment

Burnished Gold Editions — Production, Payment and DHL

• Production and preparation: please allow 5–7 working days from receipt of your deposit or full payment, subject to stock availability. DHL transit time is additional. If stock or production causes a material delay, we will contact you.
• Checkout delivery quote: where available, DHL calculates delivery for your address and order. Any applicable remote-area surcharge is included in that quote. The service and delivery charge are shown before payment.
• Multiple prints: the delivery quote relates to the whole order and its packing requirements. Orders may use more than one parcel; there is no promise that every quantity travels as one parcel.
• Deposit option: a 25% product deposit may be offered through Downpay. Checkout shows the actual amount due now and later, including how any shipping and taxes are charged. The remaining balance must be paid before dispatch.
• No available rate: if your address has no suitable DHL service or the quote cannot be returned, contact us before ordering. A missing rate is not a free-delivery offer. We will agree any alternative and its charge before you commit to it.
• Special requests: contact us before ordering if you need a particular delivery arrangement, a time-sensitive gift or delivery directly to your framer.
• Tracking: tracking details are sent when your parcel is dispatched. Estimated transit times depend on the selected service, destination and any customs processing.

Other Studio-Fulfilled Items

• Items are shipped via Royal Mail Tracked 48, Royal Mail International Tracked, or DHL Express depending on value and destination.
• Typical transit estimates for other studio services (excluding production time and not a Burnished Gold DHL promise):
• UK: 2–4 business days
• Europe: 5–10 business days
• Rest of World: 7–14 business days
• Tracking numbers are provided by email upon dispatch.
• Local pickup from Arbroath studio available by appointment.

6. Delivery Time Obligations

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, unless a different delivery period is agreed, goods must be delivered without undue delay and no later than 30 days after the contract is made.

Product-specific production periods and additional transit estimates are explained before purchase. If no different delivery period has been agreed, the statutory 30-day limit applies.

If delivery is not made within this time or the agreed timeframe, you may be entitled to cancel the order and receive a full refund.

If timely delivery was essential — for example, for a time-sensitive gift or urgent item — and we fail to deliver on time, you may cancel immediately and obtain a refund.

If delivery is late but time is not essential, you may specify a further reasonable delivery period. If we fail to deliver within this additional period, you may cancel the contract.

7. Made-to-Measure Kilts

• Standard lead-time: 8–12 weeks from order confirmation (subject to seasonal demand).
• Genuinely made-to-measure kilts may qualify for the bespoke-goods cancellation exemption. Any agreed cancellation arrangements and your faulty-goods rights are explained in the Returns & Refund Policy.
• Each kilt is inspected, measured, and packed by hand before dispatch.
• Shipping via DHL Express, with tracking and any additional shipment protection arranged for the order.
• Customers are responsible for any customs duties payable outside the UK.

8. Fine-Art Prints — theprintspace

Selected partner-fulfilled prints and frames are produced and shipped by Print Space Studios Limited through its regional labs. This section covers those products, including the other limited print editions still listed; it does not cover the Burnished Gold Editions printed in Arbroath.

• Regional lab fulfilment can reduce cross-border shipping. The actual production route and any applicable taxes or import charges depend on the product and destination; customs-free delivery is not guaranteed.
• Packaging: acid-free tissue, recyclable materials, and eco-certified boxes.
• Tracking details supplied automatically from theprintspace email system.

9. Print-on-Demand — Contrado Imaging Ltd

• Items are made-to-order in London.
• Dispatch within 1–3 business days; delivery worldwide within 5–14 days depending on courier.
• Contrado uses Royal Mail, FedEx, UPS, or DHL, chosen by destination.
• Sustainable production: print-on-demand eliminates stock waste and uses water-based inks.
• Customers receive tracking links directly from Contrado’s automated system.

10. Shipping Costs

• Burnished Gold Editions: the DHL delivery quote is calculated at checkout where available, including any applicable remote-area surcharge. Other studio and kilt orders may use checkout rates or a separately agreed quote based on parcel weight, dimensions and destination. The delivery charge or the method of calculating it is explained before purchase; any separately quoted charge requires your agreement.
• Framed Declaration Artworks: eligible local/regional postcodes may see Aizle framed artwork delivery at checkout for £49. Collection from Aizle Framing, Balfron, may also be offered by appointment with no delivery charge. If checkout labels collection as £0.00 or “FREE”, this means customer collection only, not free delivery. Addresses outside the automated local/regional area require a custom delivery quote before dispatch.
• theprintspace & Contrado: any delivery charge is shown during purchase through the relevant integrated route. Where a product expressly includes delivery, the product offer and checkout show that arrangement.
• Free Local Pickup: Arbroath studio or another agreed collection point by prior arrangement, depending on the product.
• Combined Orders: multi-supplier checkout may show separate shipping fees; these reflect real fulfilment costs.

Where a shipping rate is available at checkout, it will be displayed before payment is completed. Where specialist handling or custom quoting is required, we will confirm the delivery arrangement separately before dispatch.

11. Customs, Duties & Taxes

• Orders within the UK include VAT where applicable.
• For Burnished Gold exports from Arbroath, destination import duties, taxes and courier clearance fees are not included in the product or delivery price unless expressly shown as collected at checkout or included in an agreed written quote. The customer pays any such charges not already collected. Other products may use different regional fulfilment routes.
• If a parcel is refused or returned because of unpaid import charges, contact us promptly. Any refund and any lawful, reasonable deduction are assessed under the applicable consumer law and the actual costs incurred; there is no automatic administration fee or loss of all payments.

12. Delivery Delays

We strive to meet all estimated times, but delays may occur due to:

• Weather or courier disruption
• Customs inspection
• Global events or strikes
• Partner lab backlogs (e.g. theprintspace / Contrado)

We will communicate promptly if a significant delay arises.

13. Lost or Damaged Parcels

• We pack orders carefully and arrange the selected carrier service. Any additional insurance or shipment-value protection depends on the service and order; standard carrier liability is not the same as full-value insurance.
• If delivery is overdue or a parcel appears lost, contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
• For damaged goods, keep the packaging if possible and send photographs to enquiries@thetartanartisan.com promptly, preferably within 7 days. This assists a carrier claim and does not limit your statutory rights.
• We remain responsible for the appropriate remedy for non-delivery or goods that arrive damaged, faulty or not as described. You do not have to resolve our carrier claim yourself.

14. Sustainability & Packaging

• We choose suitable protective materials and favour recyclable or recycled-content packaging where practicable. Protection of the artwork remains essential.
• Burnished Gold prints use five protective packing stages: two sheets of acid-free glassine, a protective card sleeve, acid-free gold tissue, a tube made from recycled material, and an outer cardboard shipping box. The double glassine gives six individual protective layers.
• The accessory compartment keeps the companion guide, matching counterpart hologram and handling gloves separate from the artwork. The tube is transit packaging, not permanent archival storage.
• Partner-fulfilled products have their own materials and packaging specifications. Any environmental claim depends on the product and supporting supplier information; it is not a blanket certification of every order.

15. Responsibility After Delivery

For consumer orders, the goods normally remain at our risk until you, or a person you identify to receive them, takes physical possession. Handing a parcel to a carrier we arrange does not transfer that risk to you. If you independently appoint a carrier that we did not offer, the applicable statutory exception may apply.

Please inspect your goods on arrival and tell us promptly about any problem. A reporting request does not shorten your statutory rights.
