A Fine-Art limited-edition print—from the Tartan250 Present Collection.
HONORING the 50-Star Flag in America’s Semiquincentennial Year.
Designed in Arbroath, Scotland (birthplace of the Declaration of Arbroath) and fulfilled in the United States for U.S. orders, this collectible fine-art print transforms the opening verse of America’s national anthem into a vibrant tartan design commemorating the nation’s 250th year.
The Tartan250 PRESENT Edition—is the first official release of this tartan, an exclusive “tartan for the clans” of all 50 states. It honors the enduring spirit of liberty and unity in a contemporary tribute. Produced with archival materials and museum-quality craftsmanship, each print is individually numbered and certified for lasting authenticity. For those who appreciate tradition and heritage, explore the time-faded ——— PAST Edition ——— which commemorates the origins of the fight for liberty.
The Flag of Today—A Tribute in Tartan
In celebration of the United States Semiquincentennial Year, this unframed edition honors the modern Star-Spangled Banner—through the official tartan design created by Scottish artist Steven Patrick Sim. Registered at the Scottish Register of Tartans, Edinburgh, as ——— TARTAN #13214 ——— this artwork transforms the 50-star flag into a vibrant tribute woven from history and heritage.
Red, White & Blue—COLORS OF UNITY
STAR-WHITE pivots sparkle within luminous AZURE-BLUE and deep NAVY fields, recalling the 50 states. Inspired by the geometry of the U.S. flag, these elements are set alongside vibrant red grounds, with 13-count stripes alternating between bold SCARLET and pure WHITE—honoring the original thirteen colonies. All are held in the balanced symmetry of the sett. Together, these reds, blues, stars, and stripes embody the spirit of the United States flag—symbolizing unity and serving as a constellation of hope in the 21st century.

Permission Granted
The creation of the Star-Spangled Banner (Flag of 1814) tartan was only made possible through securing formal permission from the Smithsonian Institution—stewards of the original flag in Washington, D.C. Beginning in 2020, this vital process involved many months of thoughtful correspondence, careful review, and due diligence. Filled with anticipation and passion, each exchange reflected the deep historical significance of the flag. Finally, in April 2021, the Smithsonian formally granted permission to register and name the tartan.
This milestone marked the culmination of a determined journey, and on July 4, 2021—fittingly, Independence Day—the tartan was officially entered into the Scottish Register of Tartans.

This permission pertains solely to registration and does not imply endorsement by the Smithsonian Institution.
