The Angel in the Weave
The Angel’s Share® Tartan — Scarf · Wrap · Shawl — continues the same journey as my kilts and fine art prints — time, maturation, and whisky’s "angel's share" rising unseen from the cask.
Working with the original 16oz Strome woven tartan, one pivot kept pulling my eye!
The colours, light and tension sat perfectly there — as if the cloth itself paused to reveal its heart. Was an Angel calling? I photographed that exact moment.
That same pivot became the Angel's Share fine art print — now continued here in printed form. Building on my first Paris Chiffon scarf, this wider collection faithfully reproduces that original weave across every fabric — not a generic pattern, but a photographic continuation of the actual cloth.
From airy chiffons to premium silks, choose the handle that feels right for you...
How the Light Moves
Printed on the bias in tribute to the Angels, soft golds, whites and amber shift like light through oak casks as whisky matures. These lighter tones — the angels in the weave? — rise and fall with every movement, glowing softly just as spirit breathes from wood.
Finished with golden yellow thread (Baby Hem, 3-Thread Overlock, or Hand Rolled Hem — matched to your chosen fabric) and supplied boxed, ready either as a personal keepsake or thoughtful gift. Designed in Scotland, made in the UK, carrying TA Hearts branding and true boutique quality — never mass print-on-demand.

Choosing Your Size
The Angel’s Share design is available in four formats, each suited to a different way of wearing:
135 × 31 cm — Classic long scarf
Neat around the neck, looped once or twice, or worn loose over a coat — ideal for everyday wear.90 × 90 cm — Square scarf
Fold into a triangle and tie at the front or side; a versatile size for styling at the neck or over the shoulders.115 × 115 cm — Large square wrap
More generous coverage; works as a soft wrap over dresses or knitwear, with enough depth to drape.133 × 105 cm — Wide wrap / lightweight shawl
A broader format for wearing as a shawl, gathered around the shoulders or wrapped close on cooler evenings.
Each size is printed edge-to-edge from the same authentic artwork and hand-finished so the tartan can drape, fold and catch the light beautifully.
135 × 31 cm
Classic Long Scarf
This is the most familiar, easy-going format — a long, narrow scarf that sits comfortably in everyday wear.
It can be looped once at the neck, wrapped a couple of times for a closer fit, or simply worn loose down the front of a coat. In this size, the angel in the weave runs in a gentle ribbon of colour, catching the light as you move without feeling bulky or overpowering.
It is a good choice if you’d like a touch of the tartan’s story with you, without committing to a larger wrap or shawl.
90 × 90 cm
Square Scarf
Styled knotted, folded on the bias, or worn bandana-style, this square brings the angel in the weave closer to the face and neckline, where the light can play through the fabric.
115 × 115 cm
Large Square Wrap
This larger square offers generous drape — ideal as a light wrap over dresses, or gathered close when you want a little more presence of the tartan around the shoulders.
133 × 105 cm
Wide Wrap / Lightweight Shawl
A wide, flowing format that works beautifully as a shawl — worn open, loosely gathered, or wrapped close when the air cools. The extra width lets the bias-sett and those soft whisky tones really breathe.

Below you’ll find a fabric gallery showing close-up views of drape and texture to help you decide which handle suits you best.
Note: Please take a moment to review the fabric images and close-up gallery before choosing.
Some bases — like Paris Chiffon and the lighter silks — are quite sheer and let the light pass through beautifully, while others, such as Bermondsey Twill and the cotton mulmul, are more opaque on the reverse side with a stronger presence. I want you to be happy with how much transparency (or coverage) your scarf or wrap has, so it’s worth checking the photos to make sure the cloth matches what you have in mind.

THE TARTAN:
The Angel’s Share® Tartan was created in 2016 to honour Scotland’s national drink and the poetic loss — the “angel’s share” — that gently rises from the cask during maturation. At its heart, though, the tartan also holds a quieter surprise. Within the sett, shapes emerged that felt like angels themselves, unplanned but clearly present in the geometry. Those forms in the cloth — the angels in the weave — became just as important to me as the original idea of the evaporating spirit.
This is the same tartan registered as no. 11497, with UK Registered Design no. 5002317, and it remains one of the most personal works in my collection — a blend of whisky lore, mathematics in the weave, and that unexpected sense of presence that only revealed itself once the cloth was on the loom.
