I’m Steven Patrick Sim, The Tartan Artisan® from Arbroath, Scotland.

For over 15 years I’ve been designing tartans that carry stories — inspired by history, people, and place. If you’ve visited before, you’ll notice things look a little different. I’ve taken the site back to basics for now to rebuild from the heart — starting with something that means a great deal to me: the Star-Spangled Banner, and my current release of fine art prints inspired by this design.

Some of my other creations — like my kilt ranges and woven tartan products — are resting for now (...for a wee bit) while I focus on this new chapter, but they’ll return in time. Every design I create has a story woven through it — from the Declaration of Arbroath to the Star-Spangled Banner — each one is about meaning, memory, and connection.

As the 250th Anniversary of American Independence approaches, this new work feels especially close to home. The Star-Spangled Banner Tartan is my way of honouring that shared spirit of freedom and perseverance — a quiet tribute from Scotland, told in colour, pattern and legacy
...woven in time.
