STILL AVAILABLE TO CLAIM YOURS...!

...For immediate booking

Following a successful production in 2023, and fulfilment of approx 70 kilt orders (between both my Earthrise and North Sea Oil weaves), I can now update my customers that there is a limited remnant of tartan cloth immediately available for kilt ordering in the Earthrise 16oz tartan.

With fabric still in stock, these kilts are ready for booking at my kilt-maker, offering a swift turnaround for those eager to obtain one of these rare kilts - However this is a time limited opportunity as demand is still high!

-

Pending Price update :

In light of the tartan's success and the current demand, I am currently holding the price at £595. However, due to increasing costs (and an increasing supply/demand dynamic …which I must address, as a small business), a future price adjustment to £645 is anticipated. This therefore presents a timely opportunity to secure your kilt at the current rate.

-

Ordering Details :

As tartan material is immediately available full payment (minus shipping) is required to confirm your order at my kilt-maker, ensuring a smooth process from measurement to completion.

Registration notes:

The tartan commemorates the 45th anniversary of the world-famous Apollo 8 ‘Earthrise’ photograph, taken from lunar orbit by astronaut William Anders on 24th December 1968.

The photograph was captured only with a collaborative effort by all three Nasa crew members.

The tartan celebrates the colour image which was declared by wilderness photographer Gallen Rowell as "the most influential environmental photograph ever taken".

The geometry in the tartan depicts the Earth rising above the Moon's horizon.

Numbers in the threads have numerical significance; 10 dark blue threads are a reminder of the reading of Genesis 1 verses 1-10, which was read out aloud and beamed back to Earth as part of a Christmas Eve message; 68 black threads represent the year 1968. The 3 black stripes pay tribute to the crew: Commander Frank Borman, Command Module Pilot James Lovell and Lunar Module Pilot William Anders.

The tartan's 6 colours and thread count of 147 threads recognise the mission length of 6 days, or 147 hours. Colours: the colours represent the Earth, Space and the Moon.

Recommended Pleat :

PLEAT TO THE 'DARK VOID OF OUTER SPACE'

-

My personal recommendation, and favourite pleat for the Earthrise kilt is pleated to a military stripe, specifically the black (representing the dark void of 'Outer Space'). This results in what I feel is an amazing (and quite unexpected) special effect, as the 'EARTH' pivot becomes hidden in the pleats.

The Earth thus 'RISES' (and 'SETS') in the pleats as the kilt is in motion, when being worn. Note: photo galleries - and wee epic video - show this pleat option.

-

This is just a suggestion, and you can choose your own preferred pleating style - i.e. to SETT or otherwise. Just let me know what you prefer when sending me your request to pre-order your kilt.
